        Near the Sea 







        海風沿捲土砂

        刮帶大風、超抽地下水的沿海土地，菜葉本就不活，倘若不耕也不搭布棚，農地就會隨海風飛了了；貧地作物得因應地力、市場與生活型態而變，這些是我從閱讀、問家裡人 慢慢學習到的，與此同時，阿公收了好幾把他也愛食的綠蘆筍，從削去蘆筍皮的活動， 我撿回了一些日漸生疏的觸覺感受。

        知曉了土地分離的歷史脈絡與世代流轉，對應了家中兩代人的離農轉工，我畫起了 有人的場景，凝望消逝的過去與當下時間、空間的疊合與接續關係。


        Near the Sea

        The coastal land, swept by strong winds and over-extracted groundwater, is not suitable for growing vegetables. If left untilled and without any covering, the farmland would be blown away by the sea breeze. Crops on poor soil must adapt to the land’s fertility, market demands, and changes in lifestyle. This is something I gradually learned from reading and asking my family. Meanwhile, my grandfather harvested several batches of green asparagus, a vegetable he also enjoyed eating. From the activity of peeling asparagus, I regained some tactile sensations that had gradually become unfamiliar.

        Understanding the historical context of land separation and generational shifts, and reflecting on how two generations in my family transitioned from farming to industrial work, I began to paint scenes with people. These scenes contemplate the vanishing past and the overlapping and continuing relationships between time and space in the present.
